1. There are many genre`s in the music industry the genres are:

   With the genre`s in the music industry, what they tend to do is have their  own characteristics, for example passenger – let her go, in this music video we can see that he is an alternative artist, the reason why is because the music video we can see the narrative is a performance based, and we can also see the various instruments on the stage, and his music slow, smooth and cool, but when we usually see certain genre`s such as rock have a performance based music video they tend to have a relationship between the music and visuals, and the music is very up beating meaning that the editing would be very fast as well, for example Kelly Clarkson - since U Been Gone, in this music video it strongly shows the characteristics of the rock genre, the reason why is because we can see the performance based and the the relationship with visuals, and the lighting reflects the mood of the genre in  the parts where she is in a different rooms, and also when she was on stage doing the music video as a performance.
   
   

   
   

   In the pop genre the conventional key elements that you`ll pick up to immediately see that  the specific music video belongs in the pop genre is star image motifs, the costumes that rihanna wears in this music video straight away put her as the center of attention which is shown frequently because of the close ups  in this music video Where Have you been, we  can also see the  a lot of dancing which meant the narrative is a performance based and is very conventional to the pop genre,

   sub genre are two music genres mixed tougher for example Musicians that are known for producing music like this is people like Sean Paul, Michael Jackson, Rudemental , Rihanna and Tiesto, these artist are know for having most genres turn mainstream because they have thought out side the box by combing to genres tougher for example Rihanna  and Sean Paul brought a reggae/dance hall thing into the mainstream, and which got these two artist to stand out more than all artist categorized in their genre, the songs that put them out there was  Rihanna - Pon de reply and Sean Paul - We Burnin. The reason why i have named theses artist s is because  they have mixed two genre and have gotten very popular in the music industry, which is good for promotions.

   
   
   
   
   
   You also get some sub genres artist  that have a massive mix on the mainstream culture between the baisc genres that we know of today,rock and hip hop, or hip hop, rap and rock. The artist that I feel who had the most sub genre`s would be Michael Jackson because he never stick to one genre,  for example Michael Jackson Bad this music video is a sub-genre the genre`s  that this contains is Dance, Pop, and funk.
   
   
   

   
   I`ve understood the Music genres and how do certain artist immediately get put into genre`s  also i`ve analyzed the characteristics which the different types of genres  have in their music videos, which i`ll have to take in to consideration about my music video and if i want the song to be a sub genre or not.

Research: Diverse Music Videos

Diverse music videos are very creative music videos and these type of music video tend to not follow a narrative, and a majority of diverse music videos have would have performance with concept or most likely concept all the way through the music video. The type of audience that diverse music videos attract is a niche audience because it wouldn't appeal to the mainstream audience but what it would do is it will get a lot of people speaking about the music video, which tends to get a lot of views for these music videos. the type of artist that usually have these music videos is alternative artist or rock artist because  the genre that they are from some tend to have no narratives just strictly concept or a mix between concept and performance.

The advantages of a diverse music video :

·         Very abstract  which gets the audience talking about the music video even more

·         Interesting, And engaging to the audience

·         Allows the artist to reinvent there self

·         Creates a hype with the audience

·         Controversial 

The disadvantages to diverse music video:

·         Reinventing you self can also go bad for the artist

·         Limited audience

·         There is no relationship built with the audience and the artist

·         Certain members of the audience might find it very offensive

A very  successful diverse music producer called Chris Cunningham. Chris Cunningham  is also  filmmaker and a photographer as well and his work is very different, and abstract, for example a he done a ,music video for the Aphex twins which  was very bazaar because in the music video you have a bunch of kids, running around with the distorted masks on their faces. From watch the music video by the Aphex twin this type of music video wouldn't really appeal to a mainstream audience , the reasons why  is be  they would  feel his music videos are very dark, and scary, but with Cunningham he doesn't feel the same way he feels the music video that he done with the Aphex twins is normal.

Cunningham also created a music video for a famous Norwegian artist called Bjork, and what was happening in the music video was  two robots have sexual inter course, and the  and the reason for having robots was because Cunningham had a thing for robots in life. While creating the this music video there was  a confusion because the first draft that Cunningham made Bjork didn't like it she wanted something different, and when he done another draft he said “it was awful and it was very bad “, until he has used computer graphics which he has no faith in but saved him when he really need it. Cunningham also dose work with skrillex and the type of genre that Skrillex is in  dubstep.

 The conventions of cunningham`s work is :

• Cunningham has no start image
• They are concept base music videos
• Characters are very distorted in his  music video 

Another diverse music producer is called Michael Gondry who is a academy award winning filmmaker. Gondry is well known for his inventive style manipulation of mise on scene.  With his music videos they are very concept based,  and this is shown from the band that he worked with called Daft Punk , in this music video you cannot pick out the start image, in music video you have rhythmic dance moves what the camera is more focused on and also the costumes.

With some diverse music video producers, they have certain features  that represent a part of them of hat they have probably  seen  on their life. For example  the Bjork music video for Cunningham but for Gondry it’s the music video he done for Gary Jules – Mad World in this music video you  see people telling a story from  them moving in a certain way creating picture for the audience to see, and the we could see that Gondry influences or what he in relates it to is People, this is shown in a music video called mad world by Gary Jules.
Gondry`s conventions in his music video is :

• People throughout his music videos we can see he incorporates a lot of people 
• Relationships in Gondry`s music videos we can see that he tells a story though his  concept videos. 

Diverse music video should stay way from mainstream  music video  the reason why is diverse can not really get a mainstream audience and some stuff that might appeal to one audience wont appeal another, for example this type of music videos i would not watch to entertain me.
 I understood diverse music video and where do they get there creativity from, which I feel is alright but sometime thinking out of the box might not be something I would put in my music video.
