With the music channels today they tend to set the taste of the audience depending on what type genre the audience likes, for example MTV has various channels in other words we can say that they actually at the top of the music channels they have a large amount of channel MTV Dance, Rock, Hits and more but what MTV have done is made the channels appeal to certain type of audience for example a song such as OneRepublic - Counting stars be shown most frequently on MTV Hits,and is probably the most popular channel than the others reason why is because its more mainstream than any other of MTV`s, music channels.
The other music channel are mostly generalized with one on more type of genres for example MTV has different channels which play variety of songs pending on what channel it is for example if you was to go on to MTV hits you would get a varied amount of songs not only one genre but also what is mainstream and popular. by the picture above so from the would play various type of music and also some TV shows, making it appeal to the audience, so that a particular channel would have more viewers.
The company MTV shows like a various type things on their channels:
MTV Rock - Music that is in the rock genre such as Evanescence Bring me to life
MTV Dance - Pop such as Fast East Movements - Like a G6 and Lmfao- everyday i`m shuffling
MTV Base - Hip Hop and R&B, showing things such as Tyga - Switch lanes and a TV MTV Cribs Pimp my ride
MTV HITS -Sub genres Music based shows for example Miley Cyrus - We Can`t Stop
MTV - shows TV shows such as south park, america best dance crew, Teen mom sweet sixteen
Their are other channels as well not only MTV even though they runs the music channels, their is also viva, The box, VH1 and channel aka. These music channel play a variety of music video they do not only stay to one genre.
Viva and BET are music channels which shows programs as well not only music videos this is to get more viewers watching and because of the type of programs which are viewed on this music channel they have got a wider audience, than before.

I have understand the music channels and how i would relate this to my own music video what i would feel to do is try make a synergy/ star image type costume for my audience to see, Music channels have change over the years to make to get more viewers, and also see what appeals to the audience.
